Linucate is an independently operated educational project. Depending on how you use the service, it may collect:
- Your name, email address, and securely hashed password when you create an account
- Your provider identifier, name, and email when you choose Google or GitHub sign-in
- Course progress, quiz attempts, answers, and results
- Session identifiers and technical logs such as IP address, browser information, and timestamps
- Information you send directly by email when requesting support
2. How Information Is Used
Linucate uses this information to:
- Create and secure your account
- Authenticate you and maintain your session
- Save learning progress and quiz results
- Send account, registration, and password-reset messages
- Respond to support and privacy requests
- Protect, maintain, and improve the service
3. Service Providers and Sharing
Linucate does not sell personal data. Information is shared only when needed to operate the service, including with:
- Hosting, network, database, and backup infrastructure providers
- Resend for transactional email delivery
- Google or GitHub when you choose the corresponding OAuth sign-in option
- Authorities or other parties when required by applicable law or necessary to protect the service
4. Legal Grounds
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, data is processed to provide the service you request, to protect and maintain the service, with your consent where specifically requested, or to comply with legal obligations.
5. Data Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of Internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
6. Cookies and Local Storage
Linucate uses essential session and security cookies to keep users signed in and protect requests. Local storage is used to remember interface preferences such as the selected theme. Linucate does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. Blocking essential cookies may prevent account features from working.
7. Data Retention
Account and learning data is retained while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide and secure the service. Session data, technical logs, support messages, and backups are retained for limited operational periods and are deleted or overwritten according to operational schedules. Some information may be retained where required by law or necessary to resolve security and legal issues.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access and receive a copy of your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal data
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Object to processing of your personal data
- Request restriction of processing your personal data
- Data portability
Requests can be submitted to the privacy email below. Identity verification may be required before a request is completed. You may also have the right to contact your local data protection authority.
9. Children's Privacy
The service is not intended for children under the age of 13. Linucate does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information should use the privacy contact below so appropriate action can be taken.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This policy may be updated as the project changes. The current version and its update date will be published on this page. Material changes will be communicated where reasonably possible.
